Financial Assistance

Find support and guidance to help you navigate your pet’s cancer journey

Toby’s Hope is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to helping families in Washington state access life-saving lymphoma treatment for their dogs. Inspired by Toby’s story, our mission is to ensure that no pet parent faces the financial and emotional challenges of canine cancer alone.

Applying for Financial Assistance

Learn how to prepare your application, submit your request, and what to expect after you apply.

To qualify for a Toby’s Hope grant, you must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Residency: You live in Washington state.
  • Diagnosis: Your dog has been diagnosed with lymphoma by a licensed veterinarian or veterinary oncologist.
  • Treatment: You have an active treatment plan in place, recommended by your veterinarian or oncologist.
  • Financial need: You can demonstrate financial hardship (e.g., income limits, limited access to other funding sources).
  • Veterinary care: You have a history of regular veterinary care for your pet, or access to public programs for basic care.
  • Scope of support: Funding covers lymphoma treatment only. We are unable to assist with other conditions, retroactive expenses, euthanasia, or emergency services.
  • Payment: Approved funds are paid directly to your veterinarian or oncology clinic.

Note: Partial funding may be awarded. We encourage applicants to explore additional assistance programs for full coverage. For additional resources, please go to our “Other funding options” section on this page.

Before submitting your application, please gather the following information:

  • Your contact details (name, email, phone number)
  • Your dog’s medical records and diagnosis
  • Treatment plan and estimated costs from your veterinarian or oncologist
  • Any additional financial aid or fundraising efforts (e.g., Care Card, GoFundMe, etc.)
  • Proof of residency in Washington state
  • Optional: pet insurance policy documentation (if applicable)

You can apply for financial assistance at any time. There is no deadline—applications are reviewed on a rolling basis depending on available funding.

To apply:

  1. Complete the online application form Apply here.
  2. Upload all required documentation, including medical and financial records.
  3. Submit the form and wait for email confirmation.

If funding is unavailable, the form will temporarily close until more grants are available.

If you prefer to complete the form in Spanish, you can access the Spanish version here: Formulario en Español

Once you submit your application, our team will review it as quickly as possible. The process typically takes up to 10 business days and includes:

  1. Initial review – Confirming that all required fields and documents are complete.
  2. Eligibility assessment – Evaluating your application based on program guidelines and, if necessary, contacting your veterinarian.
  3. Final decision – If approved, grant funds are sent directly to your veterinary clinic or oncology provider.

You’ll receive an email notification once a decision has been made. If more information is needed, our team will contact you for clarification.

We understand how stressful it can be to navigate treatment decisions. While waiting for your application review, please remember to take care of yourself.

You can access emotional and practical support through our Caretaker Support Resources page, including:

  • Guidance on managing pet care during treatment
  • Mental health resources for caretakers
  • Community support through Toby’s Friends

If your grant is approved, your veterinarian will be notified directly once funds are disbursed.
