Paws for a Cause

We kicked off our main fundraiser for the year on November 1, “Paws for a Cause”. I’m optimistic about what we can do with 2 months left in the year. The goal is to raise $20,000 so we have sufficient funds in the bank to start accepting applications for lymphoma financial assistance requests in the new year.
We have been contacted by a few people that shared their story and were looking for help in the last few months. It was really hard to turn them away empty handed. I look forward to the day that we have positive news to share with multiple people and more importantly, the hope we can deliver.
There are many outstanding organizations that help dogs throughout Washington. I know we’re all vying for dollars and publicity going into the holidays and Giving Tuesday. I enjoy getting to know more about all the amazing rescue groups, Humane societies, and speciality dog businesses on FaceBook and Instagram. Zoom Room in Tacoma has classes and playtime to help train and socialize dogs. The Seattle Barkery has treats, events, and of course their famous birthday cakes. The Seattle Humane Society has one of the best social media teams with so many great videos and content. Show your support for these great organizations through purchases and donations.
What we all have in common is we want to do what’s best for dogs. Maybe I go a little overboard with the treats, toys, and dog beds (6 seems like a reasonable number). But, it’s out of love. I love Toby’s excitement over his morning dental treat and chew stick. He’s so happy when I come home that he greets me with one of his many stuffies. Cuddle time on the sofa is the best. I’ve learned to cherish these moments because they won’t last forever.
Much love to everyone and their dogs as we aim to close out the year with a bang.
